Bethel Balge
Winner of the Louis B. Sudler Award in the Arts, pianist Bethel Balge has performed in Germany, including at Frankfurt’s Alte Oper, and in Russia as a soloist with the Voronezh Philharmonic, as well as in various American venues. Bethel is the founding Artistic Director of ProMusica Minnesota.

Sarah Switzer
A native of Denver, Colorado, violist Sarah Switzer joined the Minnesota Orchestra in September 2022 and served as acting assistant principal viola for the Orchestra’s 2023-24 season.

Ben Odhner
Ben Odhner has been a violinist in the Minnesota Orchestra since 2017, first as a member of the second violins and joining the first violin section in 2022. Prior to that he was a member of the Colorado Symphony.

Matt Frischman
A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, Matthew Frischman joined the Minnesota Orchestra in 1998. He served as Acting Co-Principal bass from 2012-15. Prior to his appointment here, he held positions in the New World Symphony and the Virginia Symphony.

Alan Snow
Alan Snow joined the Minnesota Orchestra in September 2022 and won the position of Associate Concertmaster in November 2022. He was previously the second associate concertmaster with the Omaha Symphony.

Marlea Simpson
Hailed by the Chicago Tribune as “Grant Park Orchestra’s new 21-year-old wunderkind” in 2016, Dallas native Marlea Simpson was appointed associate principal viola of the Minnesota Orchestra in February 2024.

Maureen Nelson
Maureen made her solo debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra at the age of 15. She is the founding first violinist of the internationally acclaimed Ensō String Quartet and led the ensemble to top prizes at major competitions.

Susie Park
Sydney native Susie Park began playing violin at three, debuted at five, and by 16 had performed with every major Australian orchestra. Known for her passion and versatility, she now performs globally as an orchestral, chamber, and solo artist and serves as the first associate concertmaster of the Minnesota Orchestra.

Rui Du
Violinist Rui Du joined the Minnesota Orchestra as assistant concertmaster in 2015 after serving in the same role with the Baltimore Symphony and as concertmaster of the Annapolis Symphony. He has soloed with numerous orchestras, including Minnesota and Baltimore, and collaborated with renowned conductors like Osmo Vänskä and Nicholas McGegan.

Tony Ross
Tony Ross has been a member of the Minnesota Orchestra since 1988 and assumed the principal cello post in 1991. He has been a soloist many times with the Orchestra, performing concertos by Schumann, Dvořák, Victor Herbert, James MacMillan, Beethoven, Saint-Saëns, Elgar, Bloch and Shostakovich, as well as many chamber works.

Silver Ainomäe
Silver Ainomäe was born in Tallinn, Estonia. Currently Associate Principal Cellist of the Minnesota Orchestra, Silver has previously served as Principal Cellist of the Colorado Symphony and guest Principal with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Baltimore Symphony, the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Helsinki Philharmonic, and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra.

Richard Belcher
New Zealand cellist Richard Belcher joined the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra in 2019. A founding member of the Grammy-nominated Enso String Quartet, he toured globally for two decades and made acclaimed recordings. After the quartet disbanded in 2018, he became Artistic Director of Music on the Hill in Mankato, Minnesota.

Pitnarry Shin
Cellist Pitnarry Shin, praised by Strad for her tone and passion, made her New York debut at Weill Hall, Carnegie. She has toured the U.S., Europe, and Korea, was a Minnesota Orchestra member from 2001-2006, and rejoined in 2012. She is an artistic director of the Bakken Ensemble and has held principal roles with the London and Singapore Symphony Orchestras.

Gabriel Campos Zamora
Gabriel Campos Zamora, a San José, Costa Rica native, became principal clarinet of the Minnesota Orchestra in 2016. Previously, he was associate principal with the Kansas City Symphony and has served as guest principal with the Cleveland, Seattle, Houston, and Virginia Symphonies.

Manny Laureano
Principal trumpet for the Minnesota Orchestra Manny Laureano joined the orchestra in 1981 He and his wife, Claudette, served as co-artistic director of the Minnesota Youth Symphonies for 32 years. He is also entering his eighth season as the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra music director.

Korean violist Jenni Seo, newly tenured as Assistant Principal Viola of the Minnesota Orchestra, is known for her rich sound and artistic integrity. She has performed worldwide in renowned venues like Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, and Royal Albert Hall.

Jenny Haugen-Hesse
Minnesota soprano Jenny Haugen performs with The Summit Avenue Music Series, ProMusica Minnesota, and The Minnesota Valley Chorale. She holds a B.A. in Music from Bethany Lutheran College and an M.M. in Vocal Performance from The Boston Conservatory.
